Up-Coming Dramas | December 2013

Having a blog has changed my drama habits. Now a drama is not just something I watch in my free time. It is a whole new experience. Writing my thoughts, trying to find the right words to describe how a character made me feel, having discussions with other fellow drama watchers- it really seems I’ve come long way since the day I watched my first drama.

But one thing has stayed the same. The thrill of discovering a new drama. These first days were you try to decide if you’re actually gonna start this drama, all the expectations you have, that feeling inside you when the first scenes of the new drama starts showing, the fear of the unknown story and characters that are bound to make you feel like you’re in an emotional rollercoaster. Ohh I wouldn’t change it for a thing!

So it’s only natural to be excited for some up-coming dramas that start in December. Well technically two of them start in November but they are closer to the end of November so we’re gonna go with December.

This time around we have four new dramas that I’m quite excited to see how they’re gonna win me over. I know that they are kind of a lot, and I have my Internet problems too, but hopefully everything’s gonna turn out fine.

Bel Ami aka Beautiful Man

It is the new drama with Jang Geun Suk. I know that a lot of people are torn between really liking him as an actor and really not liking him as a personality. I’m in the middle, meaning that I’m generally neutral. The basic story goes like this: He is the most beautiful man in the world and decides to take advantage of his “asset” to make some money by taking advantage of ten different women. Until of course she comes on his way. She is not the most beautiful girl in the world but she has a crush on him.

Why I’m excited?

I know, I know. Is the story interesting? Well not quite but still enough. Though the stills seem very colorful and quirky and I like stories with ugly-ducklings. Also it’s Jang Geun Suk. Whatever people say personally I think he is a good actor. He can really portray his characters effortlessly. And he has a nice voice when he speaks. That’s always a plus.

Note for the reader: Jang Geun Suk has played in the worst korean movie I have ever watched and that is You’re my Pet. The movie didn’t make any sense. I hope this drama does.

Let’s Eat

I found out about this drama through the greek drama watching community (yes, more greeks like me exist!). Someone posted about this, I did a small research about it, and the rest is history. The story revolves around a young woman, who divorced when she was in her 20s, her daily and romance life and who really likes to eat. There is also a murder that occurs in her neighborhood(I really wish that’s true and not the internet messing with us again!).

Why I’m excited?

Didn’t you read carefully what I wrote a few lines above? Should I repeat it? There is romance, food and murder. Do you really need more? Still? Well alright. They released this promo where they say things about eating alone and being lonely. You want more? No? I thought so.

Note to the reader: I like food. In general. My favourite things to eat are shrimps and french fries. And other things of course. This note has no real reason of existence, obviously.

Prime Minister and I

In the beginning I wasn’t so interested in this one. But then Yoon Shi Yoon happened. I’m not really someone who chooses a drama only based on the actors, I have to find the story interesting too. So when I heard that he will be in this drama and because I find him such a talented actor I started rethinking my decision. Maybe I didn’t pay much attention to the story, I said. Maybe I was wrong and impulsive, I said.

Why I’m excited?

Well I like stories where the main couple not really likes each other at the beginning but then slowly falling for each other. And I like stories with fake marriages and people “forced” to live under the same roof. And it seems like this story has something from all of these. More or less.

Note to the reader: Cross your fingers with me. Let’s hope that this drama won’t end up being all about politics and stuff. I want my romance and I want fun!

Miss Korea

A bunch of ajusshis team up to turn a girl form their neighborhood into the next Miss Korea. That was the first thing that we learnt about this drama. Then we learned more things and the plot turned out to be like that: A guy needs to save his cosmetics company so he and the other employees team up to turn a girl into the next Miss Korea. Pretty close I guess.

Why I’m excited?

The story sounds hilarious. I like make overs in dramas and now we have a whole drama based on a make over. Or that’s how I like to think of it. Truth is that when I first heard about this “Fun” was the first word that came to my mind. And they gained Lee Sun Gyun, who is so charismatic. And charming of course. So they have my vote!

Note to the reader: When started learning about all this up-coming dramas this one was the one I was the most excited about. Still am..

  2. You crack me up. I am all about when Yoon Shi Yoon happens. And I’m glad there’s someone else out there who watches things for the food! If we ever happen upon each other in real life I’ll buy you some french fries 😉 Oh my gosh I am super excited for these dramas now, and I didn’t even know about most of them before!
