Yeon-woo’s Summer | Drama Special Review

” ‘as you are.’ says the universe.
‘after…’ you answer.
‘as you are.’ says the universe.
‘before…’ you answer.
‘as you are.’ says the universe.
‘when…’ you answer.
‘as you are.’ says the universe.
‘how…’ you answer.
‘as you are.’ says the universe.
‘why…’ you answer.
‘because you are happening now. and your happening
the thing that both keeps me alive and brings me to my knees.
you don’t even know how exquisite you are.
as you are.’
says the universe through tears. “

Yeon-woo still lives in her old neighborhood after all her friends have moved away and the old properties have been sold. One day to help her injured mother she decides to to fill in her job position as a cleaner in a big corporation and there she meets an old friend. Her friend asks her for a favor and like that Yeon-woo’s summer begins.

Growing up, finding who you are and who you want to be, accepting your situation, learning to love yourself, learning not to compare yourself with others and living your life are the major themes of this one-hour-long drama.

Everything is told in a quite, bittersweet way. A look, a sweet guitar tune, a gloomy scenery. Everything blends together and creates something worth-watching.

The actors provide us with stellar performances, the music is beautiful as well as the cinematography. After watching a few drama specials this year I have come to the conclusion that they are worth our time. They are beautifully shot, and in a few only hours, sometimes even only one, they manage to tell a thought-provoking story.

Breathe in. Breathe out. This is a life—your life.

    1. I know right? When I first read I thought, that us something so true and so elegantly written..
And I thought it went really good with the overall feeling of the drama.. 🙂

  1. This sounds lovely, and at only 1 hour isn’t much of a time investment! I don’t make it a habit to watch drama specials but the best one I’ve seen so far is Adolescence Medley, which is absolutely great. Have you seen that?
